Everything a $59/mo journal does, on your own machine

One HTML file in. A complete picture of how you actually trade out.

Full analytics dashboard & Tape Score

Net P&L, win rate, profit factor, expectancy, payoff ratio, streaks, hold time, commission and swap drag — plus one composite Tape Score built from six weighted sub-scores so you can see at a glance what is actually broken.

Equity & drawdown

Balance curve with deposits and withdrawals marked, a dedicated underwater drawdown chart, peak-to-trough figures in both currency and percent, and a monthly P&L calendar that colours each day by size.

Session & time analysis

Performance by hour, by weekday and by trading session, with a server time-zone offset you can set once. This is where most traders find the hour or the day that quietly costs them the year.

Trade journal with setup & mistake tags

Rate a trade, tag the setup, tag the mistakes, record planned risk and get an R-multiple. Then read the two tables that matter: performance by setup, and what each mistake has actually cost you in money.

Prop-firm rule tracker

Replay your real history against daily-loss, maximum-drawdown, profit-target and minimum-trading-day rules — static or trailing. You get a retroactive PASSED / VIOLATED / IN PROGRESS verdict and the exact day a rule broke.

Export & own your data

One JSON file holds your dataset, journal, tags and settings. Export it, keep it, import it on another machine. No account to lose access to, no export tier, no lock-in.

How it works

Three steps, about ninety seconds, no account anywhere in the middle.

1

Export your statement

In MetaTrader, open your account history, switch it to All History, and save the report as HTML. Nothing is installed and no add-on is needed.

2

Drop it on TapeSheet

Open the analyzer and drag the .htm file onto the drop zone, or click to browse. Parsing happens on your device, in the time it takes the page to repaint. Nothing is uploaded.

3

Read your tape

The dashboard, equity curve, calendar, session breakdown, journal and prop tracker are all there immediately. Add another statement later and TapeSheet merges it, dropping duplicate tickets.

Your statement never leaves your device

This is not a policy promise you have to trust. It is how the thing is built: there is no backend, no database and no account system, so there is nowhere for a file to go.

Verify it yourself, in thirty seconds

Open the analyzer, press F12 (or Cmd + Option + I on a Mac) to open DevTools, switch to the Network tab, and load your statement. The request list stays empty. For a stronger check, turn off your Wi-Fi first — the whole app still works, because every byte it needs already arrived with the page.

Local-first storage, in plain English

Your journal, tags and last dataset are saved in your browser’s own IndexedDB storage, on your machine. There is no sync, no cloud copy and no backup we hold, because we hold nothing at all. If storage is blocked (private windows, some hardened browsers), TapeSheet says so and keeps working for the session.

The honest caveat: local-first cuts both ways. Clearing your browsing data, “clear site data”, private-browsing windows, or a browser evicting storage under disk pressure will take your journal with it. Use Settings → Export to write a single JSON backup, and keep it somewhere you keep files. That file is also how you move your journal to another computer.

Frequently asked questions

The things people ask before they trust a tool with their trading history.

Is TapeSheet really free?

Yes. Every feature on this page is free, with no account, no trial clock and no feature held back for a paid tier. There is nothing to sign up for — you open the analyzer, drop a file in, and it works.

The reason it can stay free is architectural: TapeSheet has no servers to pay for. Parsing, metrics and storage all run on your own device, so a thousand new users cost about the same as one.

How do you make money, then?

Honest answer: eventually, ads on the content pages — guides, calculators and explainers like the ones in the Guides menu. Never inside your data. There are no ads in the analyzer, the dashboard, the journal or the prop tracker, and there never will be.

In this release no ad network is loaded at all. The dashed boxes you see on content pages are placeholders that ship with the site so the layout is honest about where ads would go. If that changes, this page and the privacy policy change with it.

Which files work?

The HTML statements MetaTrader saves itself: MT4 Save as Report and Save as Detailed Report, and MT5 Report → HTML. Files arrive as .htm or .html.

Broker-customised templates, comma decimal separators, non-breaking-space thousands and non-UTF-8 encodings (including windows-1251 Cyrillic) are handled. MT5 reports without a Position column are reconstructed FIFO into whole positions, including partial closes. If a file does not parse, TapeSheet tells you what it looked for instead of failing silently.

Is my data private?

Your statement is read with the browser’s own file API and parsed in a DOMParser on your device. It is never uploaded, because there is nowhere to upload it to — TapeSheet has no backend, no database and no account system.

You do not have to take that on faith. Open DevTools, switch to the Network tab, and load your file: you will see no outbound requests. You can also disconnect from the internet entirely and the analyzer keeps working.

Do you support cTrader, NinjaTrader, or stock brokers?

Not yet. TapeSheet v1 is deliberately MetaTrader-only: MT4 and MT5 statement HTML. Doing one format properly across hundreds of broker template variants is a bigger job than it looks, and a parser that half-works is worse than none.

cTrader and generic CSV import are the most likely next formats. Equities and futures platforms are further out.

What about prop-firm challenges?

The prop-firm tracker lets you enter an account size, profit target, daily-loss limit, maximum drawdown (static or trailing) and minimum trading days, then replays your statement day by day against those rules.

It is a retroactive simulation of your own history — useful for asking “would last month have passed?” before you pay for an evaluation. It is not affiliated with any firm and it is not a live monitor: it reads the file you give it, and a statement only contains closed-trade balances, not intraday equity.

How do I back up my journal?

Settings → Export writes a single JSON file containing your dataset, journal entries, tags and settings. Keep it anywhere you keep files. Settings → Import reads it back, on this machine or another one.

This matters because your journal lives in your browser’s IndexedDB storage. Clearing site data, using private browsing, or a browser that evicts storage under pressure will remove it. Export is the backup — there is no cloud copy to fall back on, by design.

Do I need to send my broker password or connect my account?

No. TapeSheet never asks for broker credentials, investor passwords, API keys or MetaTrader logins, and it has no way to connect to a trading account. The only thing it ever reads is the report file you chose yourself.
