How to export your MT4 account statement

MetaTrader 4 can write your entire trading history to a single HTML file, with no add-on and no broker involvement. It takes about two minutes. Here is the exact path, plus the one setting that trips almost everybody up.

MetaTrader 4 · desktop terminal (Windows, or Wine/PlayOnMac) · about 2 minutes

The short version

Terminal → Account History → right-click → All History→ right-click → Save as Report.

Step by step

  1. Open the Terminal panel

In MetaTrader 4, press Ctrl+T (or use View → Terminal) to open the Terminal panel at the bottom of the platform, then click the Account History tab.

  2. Switch the period to All History

Right-click anywhere inside the history list and choose All History. This is the step people miss: MT4 shows the last month by default, and a statement saved from that view only contains that month.

  3. Save the report

Right-click inside the list again and choose Save as Report, or Save as Detailed Report. Both work with TapeSheet; the detailed version simply adds a few extra columns.

  4. Pick a folder

Choose somewhere easy to find, such as your Desktop or Downloads folder. MetaTrader 4 writes a single file with a .htm or .html extension — that one file is your whole statement.

  5. Drop it on TapeSheet

Open the TapeSheet analyzer and drag the file onto the drop zone, or click to browse for it. It is parsed on your own device and nothing is uploaded.

Always choose “All History” first. MT4 saves exactly what the Account History tab is showing. If it is showing Last Month, your statement covers last month — and every metric TapeSheet computes will describe that slice instead of your account. TapeSheet shows the date range it found at the top of the dashboard so you can sanity-check this.
Report or Detailed Report — either is fine. Save as Report gives the standard closed-trade table. Save as Detailed Report adds a few extra columns and a longer summary. TapeSheet reads both, and both include the balance operations (deposits and withdrawals) it needs to draw a correct equity curve.
Your platform does not need to be in English. TapeSheet detects the file’s character set — including windows-1251 Cyrillic and other non-UTF-8 encodings — and detects comma decimal separators and non-breaking-space thousands separators. A Russian, Spanish or Portuguese MT4 statement parses the same as an English one.
The file lands as .htm or .html. That is normal and it is the file you want. Do not open it in Excel and re-save it; hand TapeSheet the file MetaTrader produced. If your broker emails you a PDF statement instead, ask for the HTML one, or export it yourself from the terminal — the export above is entirely local and does not need the broker at all.

What TapeSheet does with it

It separates real trades from balance operations (so a deposit can never inflate your win rate), normalises broker symbol suffixes such as EURUSD.m andus30.cash, computes profit factor, expectancy, payoff ratio, drawdown, streaks and session performance, and keeps open trades and cancelled orders out of the closed-trade statistics while still reporting them.

Uploading a newer statement later merges with what you already have and drops duplicate tickets, so your journal notes survive a monthly re-export.
